Visualizations¶
Miscellaneous visualizations and data analysis projects. Not all of these are related to my research, but they are all projects I've been interested in or have worked on.
Post-Manifesto Polygamy¶
The full interactive visualization can be found here.
This is a network visualizing post-manifesto polygamy relationships in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS/Mormon). In more plain terms, these are polygamous sealings (marriages) performed after the first declaration from the LDS faith that it was no longer approved or practiced. Green nodes are husbands, indigo are wives, and orange are shared wives (polyandry). The size of each node is scaled based on their degree (number of edges, also known as links). Edges represent sealings/marriages: the more edges, the bigger the node. Nodes can be clicked on to see more information, such as notes from the dataset about the individual or the marriage. Edges can be clicked on to view the date the sealing/marriage was performed. Data comes from the Post-Manifesto Polygamy Dataset downloaded on 02-Aug-2024. This dataset was presented at the 2024 Sunstone Symposium by Lindsay Hansen Park and Bryan Buchanan.
NOTE: This visualization does not work properly on mobile devices. Clicks don't show the information, but the network can still be explored.
